You can get pounds in Gibraltar, but they are not British pounds, but Gibraltan pounds and are linked to British equivalent and so worth exactly the same amount. However to make it a little more confusing for the tourist, British pounds can also be used in most shops, restaurants and businesses. Also the close ties with Spain means that the Euro is also unofficially accepted in a majority of places, meaning that three currencies are in circulation (at least unofficially).
